Southern Living Partners With Deltic Timber Corporation for First-Ever 2007 Southern Living Idea House in Hot Springs Birmingham, Ala. – (April 4, 2007) – Southern Living magazine and Deltic Timber Corporation have teamed up to bring a unique partnership to Arkansas. For the first time, Southern Living has chosen Hot Springs and Red Oak Ridge as the location for a 2007 Southern Living Idea House that will be open to the public in June. “Southern Living is excited to be in Arkansas and the Idea House in Red Oak Ridge promises to be nothing short of spectacular,” said Frank Craige, Southern Living Idea House program manager. “The home design conveys a sense of elegance in every detail. Anyone who visits the house is sure to leave with an idea or two for their own home.” Nestled in the foothills of the Ouachita Mountains near Lakes Hamilton and Catherine, this stately 4,500 square-foot brick home evokes old-world elegance with Georgian and French architectural influences. Designed by renowned residential designer Rick Gary of Plano, Texas, a large open terrace greets visitors and welcomes them into the home. Once inside, the wrought-iron doors, brick floors and archways accent the front foyer while a winding staircase draws the eye upstairs. Tucked beneath the staircase, a wine closet stands ready for entertaining. The main floor features a large, open family area with a fireplace and brick arches that open into the spacious eat-in kitchen. In the rear, an outdoor living area has two covered porches and an open-air kitchen and fireplace. The 2007 Southern Living Idea House in Red Oak Ridge is just minutes outside Hot Springs and a short drive from Little Rock. Amenities in the development include more than 800 gated acres of natural beauty offering estate-size residences, as well as a beautiful garden-home living, all with meandering trails, two private fishing lakes and a private pool. Better still, it’s all just a stone’s throw from Hot Springs’ business, medical, professional and retail amenities. “Deltic Timber is thrilled with the selection of Hot Springs and Red Oak Ridge as one of Southern Living magazine’s Idea House locations. We know that with the vast readership of Southern Living and our own local marketing, Hot Springs will see a major increase in visitor traffic this summer,” said Deltic President and CEO, Ray Dillon. “Plus, we look forward to reopening the home for events and more visitor tours during the Holiday Season and during next year’s live race meet at Oaklawn.” The Southern Living Idea House at Hot Springs will be open for tours June 9 –Sept. 30 and will be featured in the August 2007 issue of Southern Living magazine. The design team for the Idea House includes: residential designer, Rick Gary, partner, Gary/Ragsdale Inc., Plano, Texas; Ed Wright, builder, EMW Construction, Little Rock; interior designers Debi Davis, principal, D & D Designs; Susan Henry, owner, Cobblestone and Vine; and Louine Heathcott, partner Classic Consulting. And, as previously mentioned, Deltic Timber Corp. is the developer.
