Flowers are favorite party props for Southern hostesses, many of whom have gardens
filled with white, which is useful when planning centerpieces. Other floral details can
be created with what's on hand and in season. Here, we gathered tulips and mock orange
from a spring garden. Fresh-cut daisies are an inexpensive treat from the florist. With
loose, simple arranging, these flowers provide a perfect touch on the tables and chairs
and even garnish some of the food. Old glass decanters and crystal bud vases make great
centerpiece containers--a nice example of how to pair the old with the new.
