Before this kitchen got an all-out makeover, it was dreary, outdated, and just plain ugly. And that was a very good thing. For homeowner Nancy Kramer, the awfulness of the previous space opened up a world of possibilities. A new and improved island, better storage and lighting, and splashes of cheerful color were just some of the ideas she had in mind. "When we bought the house, I was pleased the kitchen was as bad as it was because I wouldn't be forced to do a superficial change. I could totally gut it," she says.
Nancy has a difficult time remembering the "before" state of her now-beautiful kitchen. She and husband John are too busy enjoying it. With clever concepts and stylish design, it's sure to have you dreaming of ways to turn oh-so-bad into oh-so-good.
