You might be tempted to hang out in the airy dogtrot and gaze at the lake all day, but go ahead and step inside the family room. This is no ordinary farmhouse. The room's soaring, vaulted ceiling is enhanced with exposed wooden trusses, and an off-white stucco fireplace, with slightly tapered edges, accents the space. The mantel is a rough-cut piece of cedar that seems to float above the firebox. As a nod to the saddles found in the property's horse stables, a large leather sofa feels right at home amid a field of oak flooring. "I wanted to blend the ambience of an old farmhouse with a hip and urban feel that reflects today's lifestyles," explains designer Darcy Cavell.
