Points To Ponder
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) recently reported that conditioned
air (heating and cooling) accounts for 50% to 70% of the energy used in the
average home. While these figures may not startle you, knowing the amount of
conditioned air that actually stays within your home might make your wallet
ache.
What's the answer? Making sure your house is properly insulated. But if your
attic, roof, exterior walls, and areas around windows and doors are allowing air
to seep out unabated, then you're a prime candidate for higher energy bills.
Insulation works to solve this problem by helping to reduce heat flow in your
home, keeping warm air inside during the winter and outside in the summer.
