Starring Stripes on Metal Flower Buckets
Create bands of crisp color on metal flower containers.

Here's a project so easy that you won't even need a paintbrush. Apply evenly spaced strips of masking tape to tall, metal flower buckets; then add a few light coats of enamel spray paint in the colors of your choice. It's just that simple. The painted bands instantly bring interest and pattern to the metal finish.

Look for these containers at garden centers and nurseries. Brighten them with all the colors that speak of summer; then fill them with bouquets of long-stemmed blossoms and cuttings of foliage. Your arrangements will be both easy and beautifully bold.

MATERIALS:
1. metal flower buckets
2. masking tape in various widths
3. spray paint in desired colors
4. seasonal flowers

Step 1: Start at either the bottom or top, and apply a straight band of masking tape around the container. (It's easier to apply a separate strip to each side of a four-sided flower bucket.)

Step 2: Apply a second band of tape, leaving a space between the first row and the second that's the same width as the tape. Continue adding rows of tape until you reach the opposite end of the container.

Step 3: Coat the exposed areas of metal with spray paint, following manufacturer's instructions for use. Once the paint is dry, remove the tape. Fill with seasonal flowers.
