Fruits
Q. We are growing blueberries, a fig, and an antique rose in containers on our deck. What conditions will they need this winter? I'm especially concerned about light and temperature.

Q. We'll be moving to Pensacola, Florida, in the next few months. Will I be able to grow grapes there? If so, what kinds do you recommend?

Vegetables
Q. I've been growing peppers without any problem for years. But this year, crickets are eating my peppers, especially the chiles. What can I do to stop them?

Q. Here in northeast Alabama, my tomatoes and peppers are still producing. Should I clear them out now to make room for fall vegetables? What vegetables should I plant for fall?

Q. Dark brown spots have appeared on the leaves of my pepper plants. What are they, and what should I do? Will they spread to my tomato plants?

Q. I want to save tomato seeds, and I understand that some tomato plants have different genders. How can I tell if a plant is female?

Q. Why are my green tomatoes turning black on the bottom while they are still hanging on the vine?

Q. When I grew okra in my garden, I got big, long pods that were dry and woody. Do you have any advice?

Herbs
Q. Can you tell me the best way to start growing herbs? I'm particularly interested in basil, parsley, thyme, rosemary, dill, and lavender.
