Susanne wanted the living room to enclose you but not shut out the garden. Old church windows proved ideal. Held together by rails and connected to posts, they form the living room’s walls. Weather-tolerant lamps, furniture, and fabrics adorn the interior.
Salvaged windows also form the walls of Susanne’s favorite outdoor room, her greenhouse, which is roofed with simple corrugated plastic. Though it was conceived at first as a winter haven for tender heirloom plants, moisture-tolerant furnishings make it beautiful year-round. Antique oil lamps keeping watch in the windows emit a soft, welcoming glow when evening descends.
