Before coming to Southern Living, I spent nearly 10 years over
blazing-hot, 6-foot-wide restaurant grills cooking for hundreds, but now
I cook for three: my wife, Jenifer; our daughter, Andie; and myself. Our
grill at home is a standard size, so we liked the idea of testing a
couple of portables. Jen and I took the TEC and the Weber Q to the lake,
the beach, and ball games for tailgating. On-the-road performance was
great, and now we are enjoying both in our backyard. Here are some of
the things I learned while grilling on these models. --John McMillan
