I suggested writing a from-scratch bread story because, frankly, I'm challenged in the bread-baking department. Fortunately for me--and you--Rebecca Gordon, one of our Test Kitchens professionals, took the mystery out of baking bread by documenting every step in language even I could understand. I encourage you to try and to savor these fantastic recipes. You'll definitely want to bake the heavenly sweet roll variations. They start with frozen bread dough, so they're super-easy to make, and the taste is nothing less than awesome.

For a sweet-and-tangy breakfast treat, serve Dried Cherry-Walnut Sweet Rolls.

Apricot-Orange Sweet Rolls start with frozen bread dough. The end result is a plate of warm, citrusy freshness.

Potato-Caramelized Onion Buns are tender yet sturdy enough to hold big burgers.
