Easy Family Meal
Gather in the kitchen to cook up this healthful supper.
By Shannon Sliter Satterwhite, M.S., R.D. / Photography Van Chaplin / Styling Buffy Hargett, Vanessa McNeil Rocchio, Amy P. Wilson

  • Ham-and-Broccoli Muffins
  • Oven-Fried Chicken
  • Creamy Macaroni and Cheese
  • Green Beans, Corn, and Pea Salad
  • It's no secret that exercise and good eating habits go hand in hand, so an active lifestyle and nutritious choices are top priorities for this Georgia family. Billy and Kerri Ray of Alpharetta--along with their two girls, Tori (12) and Katie (10)--are always on the go. But that doesn't stop them from coming together to prepare Kerri's favorite weeknight recipes. We lightened some of the dishes and added a few wholesome ingredients. Try them, and put a healthier plan into action.

  • Girls and women who play sports have more positive body images, higher self-esteem, and better success in school and the workplace.

  • "Easy Family Meal" is from the January 2007 issue of Southern Living.
