Flavors from the South of France come to America
By Scott Jones
If you've ever shied away from French wines because you were confused by their labels, unable to figure out exactly what was inside, then fear no more. Be sure to check out the outstanding wines now available from Red Bicyclette.

Inspired by Provence, and grown, harvested, and bottled in the Languedoc (the most important wine-growing regions in the South of France), the wines combine the straightforward, easy-to-understand labeling of New World wines (ex. those wines from the United States and Australia) with the rich history of French wine making.

The Languedoc has long been known for its variety of climates, which allows winemakers to grow a wide range of white and red grapes. This unique growing situation allows Red Bicyclette to offer 3 distinctive wines--Chardonnay, Merlot, and Syrah.

All of the Red Bicyclette wines deliver great value (at $12) and food-friendly appeal. I'm particularly fond of the Syrah, which is their full-bodied red. If you enjoy Australian Shiraz (which is what they call Syrah down under), then you'll definitely want to give this wine a try with the next time you serve hearty dishes such as grilled steaks (i.e. porterhouse, rib-eye), gumbo, or roast leg of lamb.
