You’ve attached yourself to a certain penny slot machine in hopes you’ll become a gazillionaire (good luck). Stop feeding the machine for a couple of hours, and check out these city highlights. You’ll be disappointed if you don’t.
The Fountains of Bellagio. More than 1,000 fountains dance a ballet above an 8.5-acre lake to the sounds of tunes from opera to Sinatra. Sounds cheesy, like something your mom would force you to see on vacation, right? Once you see it, you’ll be captivated. (free; www.bellagio.com)
The Fremont Street Experience. Go for the free light show overhead and the chance to see downtown Vegas away from the Strip. (free; www.vegasexperience.com)
Conservatory & Botanical Gardens at Bellagio. Across the lobby from the hotel front desk is an opening through which a glass ceiling rises 50 feet. The area is filled with colorful blooms that change with every season and holiday. (free)
Cirque du Soleil performance. You can catch Cirque’s first resident show, Mystère; the newest installment, KÀ; the racy Zumanity; or “O,” on a set partially immersed in water. ($60-$150; www.cirquedusoleil.com)
A late-night meal at Mr. Lucky’s in the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. The food isn’t award-winning; go instead for the celebrity sightings and people-watching. (average entrée $11)
left: From your room at Bellagio, you can catch a magnificent view of The Fountains of Bellagio and the Strip.
