Three historic forts on the property have been carefully renovated to hold modern, multi-star accommodations. That’s where the luxury part comes in. El Fortin Del Cibolo, for example, houses the ranch headquarters along with 22 rooms and suites. Well-appointed, each guest room possesses plenty of personality, but no pretentiousness. None feels cookie-cutter, stuffy, or overdone--just comforting and comfortable.
In most you’ll find wide cottonwood beams, adobe walls, cool tile floors, a fireplace, Mexican and Spanish antiques, and beds you’ll literally dream about. Don’t look for a television or phone, though; you’ll find those only in public areas. Accept it: The point in coming here is, after all, to get away. What you can get in your room, however, is a massage, which you can follow with a plunge in the pool or a soak in the whirlpool. You’d be crazy not to trade voice mail for that.
