Party Rules
Designer Suzanne Rheinstein shares eight can't-miss pointers for throwing a successful party.

Easy Game Day Get-together
With a winning menu and simple decor in your playbook, you can't help but throw a victorious party.

Cool, crisp air; the smell of hot dogs on the grill; and car windows sporting team colors can mean only one thing: It's football season! There's no need to load up the family and head to the stadium; you can enjoy the big game from the comforts of your own home.

Don't stress over the decor. Use megaphones filled with colorful shakers as a winning centerpiece. Cover the table in a quilt, and pile it with all your favorite munchies.

Feeding the hungry fans is easy. Grill hot dogs, and serve them with all the condiments. Set up a salsa bar for munching.

Buy or make your own salsas. If you decide to buy, think color--tomatillo salsa is a bright lime green; chipotle salsa is a darker red; other salsas tend to be bright red. Group them together in bowls on a tray with baskets of chips, or serve them in hollowed-out bell peppers.

Offer homemade Margarita Punch along with an assortment of soft drinks. Other options include iced tea and fruit juice-based beverages. With this self-service setup, you'll be able to enjoy the game with your guests. Sounds like a party! Hope your team wins.
