Big Batch Mint Tea Juleps
We use two different types of tea—mint black tea and regular black tea—to achieve the perfect flavor profile in our Big Batch Mint Tea Juleps. The beauty in this recipe is that you won’t be individually measuring ingredients for each cocktail glass, saving you time that could be spent mingling with guests. Be sure you stock up on plenty of mint sprigs for serving. Guests might opt for a few extra leaves. This recipe calls for a classic Simple Syrup that can be used in countless other cocktail and beverage recipes. - 6 cups cold water
- 5 regular-size mint black tea bags (such as Bigelow Plantation Mint)
- 5 regular-size black tea bags
- 2 cups (16 oz.) bourbon
- 3/4 cup Simple Syrup
- 8 long-stemmed mint sprigs
How to Make
Combine water and tea bags in a large microwave-safe glass container. Microwave on HIGH 4 minutes. Remove from microwave, and steep, without stirring, 1 hour. Remove tea bags, letting excess liquid drain into tea. (Do not squeeze.) Discard tea bags.
Stir together tea, bourbon, and Simple Syrup in a large pitcher. Pour into tall glasses filled with ice. Gently slap each mint sprig against wrist to release mint oils and fragrance. Place 1 sprig in each glass. Serve immediately.
