Big Batch Mint Tea Juleps
We use two different types of tea—mint black tea and regular black tea—to achieve the perfect flavor profile in our Big Batch Mint Tea Juleps. The beauty in this recipe is that you won’t be individually measuring ingredients for each cocktail glass, saving you time that could be spent mingling with guests. Be sure you stock up on plenty of mint sprigs for serving. Guests might opt for a few extra leaves. This recipe calls for a classic Simple Syrup that can be used in countless other cocktail and beverage recipes. Serve our Big Batch Mint Tea Juleps at your Derby party along with some of our other favorite race-day dishes like ham biscuits, Kentucky Hot Browns, and our Chocolate-Bourbon Pecan Pie. If you’re looking for more ways to serve Mint Juleps at your get-together, check out our Ultimate Mint Julep Bar. You can set up all the ingredients and have your guests mix up their own cocktails. Just be sure you put out plenty of ingredients so no once gets shortchanged. If you’re hosting a big crowd, you might want to have a few more race-day cocktail options on the menu. Our Blush Lily is a light and refreshing counterpoint to our classic mint julep. Serve with your Blush Lily with a lime wedge for an extra pop of flavor.

- 5 regular-size black tea bags
- 2 cups (16 oz.) bourbon
- 3/4 cup Simple Syrup
- 8 long-stemmed mint sprigs
How to Make
Combine water and tea bags in a large microwave-safe glass container. Microwave on HIGH 4 minutes. Remove from microwave, and steep, without stirring, 1 hour. Remove tea bags, letting excess liquid drain into tea. (Do not squeeze.) Discard tea bags.
Stir together tea, bourbon, and Simple Syrup in a large pitcher. Pour into tall glasses filled with ice. Gently slap each mint sprig against wrist to release mint oils and fragrance. Place 1 sprig in each glass. Serve immediately.
