From Europe. Ornamental grass grows to 1 ft. high, 10 in. wide. Dense tufts of extremely fine leaves; color varies from blue- gray to silvery gray. Summer flowers in upright spikes. Tolerates drought and thrives with good drainage and air circulation. Use as edging or ground cover. Effective in rock gardens, between stepping stones, in containers. 'Elijah Blue' forms an 8-in.-high foliage clump in intense silver-blue; it is one of the tougher, longer-lived selections. 'Siskiyou Blue', to 12 ft. high, has luminous blue leaves. 'Golden Toupee' grows about 8 in. high, with fine-textured chartreuse foliage; does best in light shade.
