Plant Details

Native to Japan. Slender-branched shrub to 1012 ft. tall and wide, grown for magnificent fall color. Nearly round, smooth, 2- to 4-in.-wide leaves turn from bluish green to shades of deep red with orange tints at the onset of colder weather. Tiny, purplish fall flowers are mildly fragrant. Provide rich, acid, moist soil and protection from wind. No special pruning needed.
