The past few weeks have been full of incredible surprises for Will and Keren Settle of Bluffton, South Carolina. The biggest surprise came on June 25th, when Keren gave birth to their daughter, a 6 pound, 12 ounce beauty they named Carter Louise. This is huge news for the Settle family because Carter Louise is the first girl born into the family in 137 years!
The surprise that came next was a big one too—288 square feet and 60 pounds, to be exact—and currently sits between Bluffton and Savannah, off S.C. 315 in Hardeeville. Although it’s hard to miss, it took some detailed instructions from Will’s coworkers for the couple to find it. They told him to drive toward Savannah, turn around and come back to Bluffton. “I had an idea what it was going to be,” Will, who’s head of sales for Marlin Outdoor Advertising, told Island Packet. “We have a lot of billboards in that area.”

And that’s when he found it: a giant pink billboard announcing the birth of his daughter Carter. “When I first saw it, it was an ‘Oh my God’ moment,” Will told ABC News. “It is so pink [and] so large. It’s pretty obnoxious, I hate to say. It is so in your face, you wouldn’t believe it.”
Ashley Fields, who lives next door to the giant birth announcement, told Island Packet that she watched the billboard go up in a similar fashion to the ones before it. Although she can’t deny that this one’s different. “They change it, like, once or twice a month. ... It’s just eye-catching. That face: she is cute. And that name!”
The sign, which is on Will’s sales route, means he’ll be able to see plenty of his daughter when he returns to work.
