Hailing from Mississippi, Todd began his writing career as Sports Editor of his hometown newspaper at 17. Since then, he has freelanced for numerous magazines, newspapers and tourism publications as reporter and featured columnist. In 1996, while studying at Mississippi State University, he became resident director of Waverley Plantation Mansion, a National Historic Landmark near Columbus, MS. He spent the next ten years managing tours, doing public appearances and traveling across the south and Europe as an antiques dealer, opening his own antiques gallery in 2002. Finally managing to combine his love of architecture, interiors, writing and the South, he joined the Southern Living Homes Department in 2006.
