If you can't find the item you need on the showroom floor, consider placing an order. Always consult a knowledgeable salesperson who can help you explore the range of available options. For example, you can often change the style of an arm on a sofa or specify a different style of skirt or have no skirt at all. Several finishes are usually available for exposed wooden legs, so ask to see those samples.

Showrooms usually stock fabric samples for the different lines they carry. This often means dozens of colors, patterns, and textures from which to choose. You can usually check out samples or borrow a matching pillow for a day or two. This allows you to live with the new look for a while, so you can decide if it's right for you. Keep in mind that fabric can appear to change color under various lighting conditions and at different times of day.
