This Christmas brunch has a lively flair with its crisp red-and-blue color scheme and a subtle peppermint theme.
"We incorporated vintage ideas with a modern twist," says Mary Alice. Thoughtful details such as a custom welcome sign and locally produced party favors make their Christmas brunch a merry and memorable one.
A nod to the crisp winter weather, a snowflake motif was carried throughout the invitations and paper goods.
Antique-style white wooden chargers and beaded-edge dinner plates play up the party's vintage look. They're topped with vibrant
bird salad plates and blue paper boxes, which serve as both place cards and party favors.
As a casual alternative to a formal centerpiece, Mary Alice and Amber arranged multiple bouquets of red tulips, roses, and
ranunculus in vintage milk-glass vessels for a monochromatic look with lots of texture.
Served in glass jars with latch lids and embellished with snowflake trimmings, these ice-cream desserts can be scooped ahead of time and stored in the freezer.
Even simple candies seem special with thoughtful presentation. Friend and Nashville-based scrapbook maven Jenni Bowlin made homespun, typed identifiers for the "sweet treats" bar.
In keeping with the peppermint theme, they made minty Candy Cane Gimlets using peppermint Schnapps and Sprite. For a fun touch,
peppermint candy stir sticks garnish the recipe.
Mary Alice and Amber boxed up tasty chocolate-dipped peppermint sticks from Nashville chocolatier The Cocoa Tree as sweet parting gifts. "A good budget for favors is about $5 to $7 per guest," says Mary Alice.
