It's easy to be convinced that this screened porch has been there since the house was orginally built in the mid-19th century. But that's the genius of homeowner Furlow Gatewood. When he added the porch just a few years ago, it was important to him that it match the house, so he worked with his builder to copy the latticework columns on the front of the house and the exterior board-and-batten walls. And because he just happened to have a pile of salvaged shutters on hand, he decided they would make ideal walls between the columns.
