Derick is executive editor of Southern Living. He joined the magazine in 1996 as the coordinator of the Idea House Program, and in 1997, he was promoted to manager of the program. Derick served as the Southern Living homes editor from 1999 to 2001, before being named to his current position.
Prior to joining the company, he worked as finish manager at John Wieland Homes from 1994 to 1996.
A native of Charleston, W.V., Derick received a bachelor of arts in journalism and mass communications from Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Va.
Derick and his wife, Aimee, have two children, Benjamin and Margaret. He is a member of the Sunrise Morning Rotary Club and of the Mountain Brook Board of Zoning Adjustment.
He is a graduate of the SPC Leadership Development Program.
