I am an employee of SunTrust Bank in Norfolk, Virginia. I work in Trust and Estate administration taking care of high net
worth clients. I am originally from the Boston, Massachusetts, area and moved down south in 1984 to warmer weather. I have
been with my husband Tom for 26 years, and we have one son, Dakota, who is a sophomore at Currituck County High School. I
am a big fan of the New England Patriots and love NASCAR and Harley Davidsons. In May of 2005 I got my license, and my husband
bought me my own Harley. In January of 2007, I was diagnosed with breast cancer; that summer my husband painted my bike purple
in honor of my survival!

How has cancer changed your outlook on life?
It makes you thank God for every morning you open your eyes, get out of bed and start a new day!
What words of encouragement would you share with others with cancer?
I would say, “I know what you are thinking, I thought it too.” “It’s okay; you are now on a journey." "Be positive, have a
good attitude and you will make it through this time in your life.” “Don’t get me wrong, there will be some ‘bumps in the
road’; but it’s up to you not to get a ‘flat tire.’”
