Tell us about yourself.
I am the Instructional coach at Beverlye Magnet School in Dothan, Alabama.  I love my job and middle school students! My family is “grown and gone,” but they are still priority in my life. My sweet husband of 38 years, my new grandson James, reading, cooking, traveling and friends are my interests.

When were you diagnosed?
February 1997

How has cancer changed your outlook on life?
Cancer has allowed me to see a bigger life picture.  I have always been a “detail” person; cancer helped me to realize that sometimes we restrict ourselves by attending to those small details—hinders our view of the big picture. In the end, enjoy life, bloom where you’re planted, make your own adventure—don’t worry too much about the details.

What words of encouragement would you share with others with cancer?
Allow your friends and family to help you through—it helps them as well as you.
