Meet Elizabeth Fulghum Frankl          

Tell us about yourself.
I am blessed to be the mother of two wonderful teenagers, James (16) and Meghan (15), and the wife of a loving husband, Dan, of 20 years. I am a graphic designer and have enjoyed the challenge of running a design and advertising firm, Frankl Creative Group, inc., for the past 20 years. In my free time, I enjoy exercising, reading, traveling, and cooking. My favorite days are the days I spend laughing with my children.

When were you diagnosed?
December 2008

How has cancer changed your outlook on life?
In the words of Albert Einstein, “There are two ways to live your life — one is as though nothing is a miracle, the other is as though everything is a miracle.”

My diagnosis was a miracle and I have a new appreciation for the simple pleasures of daily life, watching a movie with my family, walking with my friends, and spending time with my children, my extended family, and my friends.

I am thankful for my faith, my excellent physicians: Drs. Mullet, Davenport and Thomas, and the loving support of my family and friends — who stepped in walked beside me every step of the way. Their loving support made me realize how truly blessed I am — I know I could not have made it through without them!

What words of encouragement would you share with others with cancer?
Be strong, have faith, and don’t be afraid to ask questions. Do research, talk to others who have been on this journey and find the best healthcare options for you. Open your heart and your mind. You will be amazed to find yourself surrounded by strong women who have faced the challenge of breast cancer in their lives, and they will be there for you in ways you never imagined.
