Christy Jordan comes from a long line of Southern cooks. The ninth generation Alabamian publishes SouthernPlate.com, her blog dedicated to classic Southern recipes and quick and easy family favorites. Her heart is in preserving the recipes of her heritage and presenting them along with the stories of how they came about and what makes them so special. She says “the great thing about classic Southern food is that its naturally inexpensive and simple, two qualities that are just as appealing today as they were in my Grandmother’s time.”
Her first book, Southern Plate, Classic Comfort Food That Makes Everyone Feel Like Family, was published in October 2010 by William Morrow, and features the recipes she grew up with along with heartwarming stories of family and values that she has come to be known for.
She holds a B.S. in Home Economics and can often be found blogging on her site or chatting with the Southern Plate Family on Facebook. She lives in Alabama with her husband, two kids, various adopted pets, and her daughter’s roly poly collection.
