There’s something about a Sunday trip to Publix that makes us smile.
Based in Lakeland, Florida, Publix may only ring a bell for many because of a stop on a beach vacation. If you're lucky enough to live near one of Publix’s Florida, Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina, Tennessee, or North Carolina locations, then you'll know exactly why this is one of our favorite shopping spots.
You can smell the aroma coming from Publix's bakery the second the sliding doors open. The French bread always has a crunchy crust and an airy interior. The in-house made bagels are probably some of the best you can buy in the South. And that's not to mention the sweets: Please bring home the Cookies and Cream Bark.
The Pub Subs
The well-rounded menu has options for every tastebud. A few favorites: the Ultimate Sub with Tavern Ham, Ovengold turkey, roast beef, and Swiss cheese, the Reuben with hot corned beef, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, and dressing on rye, the Mediterranean Hummus Veggie Wrap with hummus, feta cheese, carrots, cucumber, and spinach, the Cuban Sub. The BBQ Pork Flatbread Pizza is also a delicious choice.
The Fried Chicken
Tailgate season wouldn't be complete without a Publix Deli Chicken Tender Platter, double-breaded and crispy fried. For a quick dinner or lunch, you can pick up individual tenders, breasts, wings, thighs, and popcorn bites at the Hot Service Counter.
The Fresh Produce
Always reliable, clean, and well-stocked with plenty of options and organic choices. The chain also provides Publix Apron cards with creative recipe ideas and nutritional information on all their produce. For free!
The Publix Brand
In addition to covering all the basics—cereal, cola, deli meat, cotton balls, etc.—the Publix brand goes above and beyond by manufacturing Alphabet Macaroni.
The GreenWise Brand
Items with the GreenWise label are either organic, contain no artificial preservatives, or are raised without antibiotics. They're also delicious. For a quick and easy weeknight meal, we suggest the Spinach and Feta Organic Pizza.
Just try to wander by a Publix employee without someone asking if you could use a little help. It won't happen. And when a Publix employee offers to help bring your groceries to your car, they actually mean it. This goes to show why and how the chain has been recognized as one of Fortune's 100 Best Employees to Work for 19 years in a row.
