Hi, I'm Mary Ann with the Southern Living Test Kitchen. Kitchen shears are one of the most versatile tools we use in the Test Kitchen. My favorite thing about them is you don't have to get your hands dirty. You can cut spinach or fresh herbs right in the bowl before you add them into a recipe. You can also cut tortillas into triangles and bake them off for a low-fat snack. I like to stack them two or three at a time. This saves a lot of time. Just arrange these on a baking sheet, and bake them until they're golden brown. Be sure to do these in a single layer so they stay nice and crisp. And my most favorite way to use kitchen shears is in canned tomatoes. You can cut up canned tomatoes in the can without getting your fingers messy.
