- For a kicked-up sandwich spread, stir a little basil or dried tomato pesto into light or fat-free mayonnaise. Pesto is also great whisked into vinegar and a touch of olive oil to make a tangy salad dressing or marinade for chicken or pork.
- For a really quick meal, cook lean ground beef or low-fat spicy sausage; drain. Stir in a jar of pasta sauce (pick any flavor you like). Add a splash of red wine; simmer until heated through. Serve over pasta. Sprinkle with shredded Parmesan, Asaigo, or Romano cheese.
