No-Fuss Tarts

The sun-warmed richness of summer stone fruit shines in these irresistible, free-form pies.

Recipe:

What is Stone Fruit?
A stone fruit has a hard pit in the middle, surrounding a seed. Almonds, olives, mangoes, and even dates are all considered stone fruits (known as “drupes” in technical terms), but plums, peaches, nectarines, cherries, and apricots are the most well known.

A Spoonful of Sugar
You may need to adjust the amount of sugar depending on the ripeness of your fruit. Taste the filling before baking, and increase the sugar as desired.

"No-Fuss Tarts" is from the July 2008 issue of Southern Living.
