Impress Guests with Three Memorable Desserts

One bite of Caramel-Pecan Pie, and you'll be thankful Lois Davis Webb shares her recipes. (Secret: It's made with the caramels you unwrap.)

Sweet treats almost too numerous to count are brought to Laura and Webb Geer's Thanksgiving Day celebration in Morehead City, North Carolina. Many of the recipes come from Webb's grandmother, Lois "Granny" Davis Webb. Here are two of her best and one from a family friend for you to try.

Tote 'Em Tips
If you don't have special carriers for desserts, try these ideas.

Place the Caramel-Pecan Pie in a box or roasting pan; then tuck a ring of scrunched dpaper towels around the base of the pie plate to prevent sliding and to softly cushion the crust's edge.

Cover the pan of Pumpkin Crisp with aluminum foil; then wrap the entire dish in about 1/2-inch of newspaper to help retain the heat. Place a tall, narrow drinking glass in the center hole of Granny's Pound Cake; then loosely cover with foil. The glass will help hold the foil above the ccake without disturbing the sprinkling of powdered sugar.

"Impress Guests with Three Memorable Desserts" is from the November 2005 issue of Southern Living.
