[MUSIC] Hi, I'm Kimberly Schlegel Whitman, editor at large at Southern Living. There is the perfect pearl necklace out there to compliment any outfit. The best place to start is with the single strand. Let's talk about length. The most classic length is the choker. It's typically 14 to 16 inches, and it goes with just about anything. You can use it to dress up a t-shirt or put it on with a little black dress. A 17 to 19 inch length is called a princess necklace. [MUSIC] It's a little bit more sophisticated than the choker. And looks great with either a really high neckline or a very low one. An opera length necklace is about 26 to 36 inches, and it's the most versatile length. You could either wear it long or wrap it around to create a double strand necklace. [MUSIC] You could also knot it in the front for a great vintage look. For a softer more romantic look, consider freshwater pearls. They're a little bit more economical, so you could spring for a multi-strand necklace and be so pretty over a soft flowing dress. I love south sea pearls. I like to pair them with a twin set. They definitley make a bold and stylish statement. Baroque pearls are irregular in shape and they're a great way to add a little bit of a modern and fun flair to your businesswear or a basic dress. A pendent necklace is the perfect finishing touch to almost any neckline. And pearl stud earrings are a great compliment to any up-do or even a pony tail. In addition to fine jewelry, there are a lot of costume pearls out there, too. Like the vintage ones that I'm wearing. With pearls there are so many choices, from color to style to length. So just experiment with them. Have fun and wear them every day. [MUSIC].
