Recipe: Mississippi Mud S'mores-Fudge Pie

We’ve combined two of our favorite sweets – Mississippi Mud Pie and campfire S’mores – to create one overwhelmingly delicious dessert! The origin of Mississippi Mud Pie is a bit unclear. Some believe it’s a version of the World War II Mississippi Mud Cake, while others think it’s simply a reference to the cool mud of the Mississippi River. Either way, this Southern Mississippi Mud S’mores-Fudge Pie provides marvelous flavor from the bottom to the top. The pie filling is incredibly fudgy and irresistibly rich, and the crunchy graham cracker crust and browned marshmallow topping gives this desert the perfect campfire s’mores twist. Complete with cocoa powder, chopped pecans, and vanilla extract, what’s not to love about this dessert? With oodles of chocolatey goodness, this sweet is an excellent dish to bring to birthday celebrations, family reunions, or holiday festivities. And, it’s so easy to make in advance of your event! Bake the filling and crust, and let it cool completely. When you are ready to serve this decadent dessert, place the marshmallows on top and throw it under the broiler for about 1 minute to achieve a flawlessly golden-brown finish. To top it all off, drizzle the pie with scrumptious Chocolate Fudge Frosting!

To begin, simply combine the graham cracker crumbs, melted butter, and sugar. Press the mixture on the bottom and up the sides of a 9-inch springform pan. Next, sprinkle the pecans over the crust for a crunchy sensation. Be sure to microwave the chopped chocolate and cup of butter on high for about 1 minute until it’s appetizingly melted and smooth. Then, whisk the flour and your next four ingredients into the chocolate mixture. Once completed, pour the batter into your already prepared crust. Bake the Mississippi Mud S’mores-Fudge Pie at 350˚ for about an hour. Break out the marshmallows, and add our yummy Chocolate Fudge Frosting or drizzle with your favorite chocolate fudge. Enjoy, y'all!
