How To Make Perfectly Flat Cake Layers

After all, an uneven cake layer shouldn’t stop you from creating the dessert of your dreams! It’s incredibly important to have very flat rounds when building a tall, stacked layer cake, and this can be achieved by ensuring that all of your ingredients are at room temperature – including milk, eggs, and buttermilk. This will allow your cake layers to rise slowly and properly. After they have been out of the oven for about 10 minutes, take the layers out of the pan and wrap them in plastic wrap. Lastly, turn them upside down as you're assembling. Follow these quick and easy steps, and you’ll be well on your way to making the perfect layer cake!
