To celebrate the season of crisp breezes, pansies, and Halloween, Cracker Barrell has released its fall menu. Indeed, there’s plenty of pumpkin, but there are several enticing surprises in the mix, as well.

For breakfast, we’re definitely placing our order for the pumpkin spice pancake breakfast. It’s a hearty portion of three pumpkin spice pancakes finished off with whipped cream, cinnamon powdered sugar, and syrup, and served with sausage, bacon or turkey sausage.

Other autumnal specials include apple ‘n’ cinnamon oatmeal with a pumpkin muffin and a maple pepper bacon breakfast sandwich.

For lunch or dinner, our mouths are watering for the maple pecan fried chicken. Diners will get three pieces of fried bird smothered in maple mustard sauce and dusted with a layer of Southern pecans (along with two country sides and biscuits or corn muffins). On weekdays only, you can also treat yourself to a savory helping of Shepherd’s pie. It’s loaded with ground beef, peas, carrots, onions, and more before a crusty layer of mashed potatoes crowns the top layer.

Craving something extra for a sweet finish? The pumpkin custard ‘n’ ginger snaps beckons. With the intoxicating scent of freshly made gingersnap cookies, the fluffy custard features a gingersnap crumble and whipped cream on top (don’t worry, you’ll get a full cookie, too).

Fall’s the season to treat yourself to some warmer clothes and a bowl of our new Pumpkin Custard n’ Gingersnaps.

We may not be that couple who has visited all 645 Cracker Barrel locations in America, but this certainly has us ready to plan our next trip to the old country general store.
