Just when we thought we couldn’t possibly love Kate Middleton any more than we already do, something like this comes out. While bestowing illustrator Johanna Basford with an Order of the British Empire (OBE) medal at Buckingham Palace Tuesday, Prince William let slip that, like us, his wife is quite the avid colorer.
In an interview with the Press Association, Basford acknowledged the recent growth of the adult coloring industry, and revealed that trend hasn’t skipped the palace. "I think we've just seen the colouring community flourish,” Basford said. “And Prince William actually said that his wife likes to color in the Secret Garden, which was really sweet." It looks like little Prince George and Princess Charlotte have one very high-profile coloring partner!

Secret Garden—a coloring book for adults—is Basford's first book and has sold more than one million copies. Coloring is just as popular on this side of the pond, and has been buoyed by heaps of research supporting its therapeutic effects. And it doesn’t hurt that it’s fun either.
Southern Living’s very own adult coloring books (Southern Living Christmas at Home and Southern Living Celebration Cakes) are available for purchase on Amazon.com. Hint: they make the perfect Christmas present.
