Dolly Parton presented her 9 to 5 costar and real-life friend Lily Tomlin with the Life Achievement Award at the 2017 Screen Actors Guild Awards like only Dolly could.
"Look at this room, all of these special people. I almost didn't get in. They kept holding me backstage. They wanted to see my ID — or maybe it was double D's,” the country icon quipped before introducing Tomlin. “I wanted to get that off my chest."
She went on amid howls of laughter from the crowd: "Jane and Lily aren't my only two famous girlfriends," she said, gesturing to her famous assets. "Lily's getting an award I've spent my life trying to avoid: sag."
Parton explained that Jane Fonda (who also starred in 9 to 5) unfortunately couldn’t attend because she was home sick with the flu “or some crud.” So we’d just have to make do with a mini Parton-Tomlin reunion. "People have wanted another '9 to 5,' but I think we’d better get after it, or else we’d have to call it '95,'" she joked. Watch her hilarious intro below:
Tomlin, 77, made her way on stage to accept the award and embraced her dear friend with a flurry of giggles.
So about the 9 to 5 reunion: where do we sign?
