Being from the South is most certainly a badge of honor, and even celebrities who have left the nest wear it with pride.
It’s true, the South can lay claim to an impressive list of celebrities with an incredible range of talent from actors to musicians, from singers to sports stars. From Jimmy Carter to Katie Couric, they are our newsmakers. They are winning Oscars, like Jennifer Lawrence and Johnny Depp.
They’re making hit records (hello Beyonce and Taylor Swift). While many Southern celebrities and socialites are returning to their roots to start businesses straight from their Southern hearts. Case in point: Reese Witherspoon’s Draper James clothing line or Solange Knowles’ New Orleans fashion store. They prove the adage you can take a person out of the South, but you can’t take the South out of a person.
