Talk about an astronomy gastronomy, ladies and gents.

The Total Solar Eclipse mania isn’t only for space junkies. Now, sweets enthusiasts can jump in on the fun with a limited-edition delight from North Carolina-born doughnut king, Krispy Kreme.

Coinciding with the solar eclipse on August 21st, Krispy Kreme will release their original glazed doughnuts “eclipsed by chocolate.” Basically, this means they will take their already otherworldly original doughnuts and put them under a waterfall of chocolate glaze. Every warm, flaky bite of the signature pastry drenched in chocolate sure sounds good to us.

You can also get an early taste of the decadent treat during “Hot Light” hours Saturday and Sunday, August 19th and 20th. “The solar eclipse is a rare occasion providing a total sensory experience for viewers across the continental U.S. Chocolate will have the same effect as we introduce a first-time chocolate glazing of our iconic Original Glazed Doughnut,” said Jackie Woodward, Chief Marketing Officer of Krispy Kreme Doughnuts in a company press release.

Come Tuesday, August 22nd, the eclipse offering will be gone faster than you can say “chocolate glaze waterfall,” so get ‘em while you can.
