No summer party is complete without a hand-held, festive dessert like these colorful No-Bake Red Velvet Truffles. Made with the flavors of rich red velvet cake that all Southerners love, these chewy cake balls are a breeze to pull together. Use premade red velvet cake mix, candy melts, and sprinkles to make these cake batter bites in just a few minutes. Dunk the formed cake balls into white chocolate or candy melt, drizzle with blue-dyed chocolate, and add red nonpareils for a vibrant Fourth of July presentation. You won't be able to eat just one of these delectable truffles!

Ingredients

½ cup unsalted butter, softened
½ cup sugar
1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
1 cup red velvet cake mix
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 to 4 tablespoons milk
1 (12 oz.) pkg. bright white vanilla candy melts
4 oz. Royal Blue vanilla candy melts
Red nonpareils

Preparation

  1. Beat butter and sugar in a large bowl with an electric mixer until combined. Add flour, cake mix, salt and vanilla, mixing until combined. Add milk, 1 tablespoon at a time until a dough consistency is formed.
  2. Roll dough into 1-inch balls and place on parchment or wax paper on a baking sheet. Chill truffle dough for at least 15 minutes or until firm.
  3. Melt white candy melts according to package directions. Using a fork or dipping tool dip truffle balls into melted candy, rolling to coat. Place on wax paper to dry (about 15 minutes).
  4. Melt blue candy melts according to package directions and place in a ziptop bag or small piping bag. Cut the tip off the bag. Drizzle blue candy melts over the truffles. Sprinkle the tops with a small amount of red nonpareils, if desired. Chill truffles until ready to serve.
